Why Shared Bikes and Scooters?

Shared bikes and scooters (also known as shared mobility or micromobility) can be a great sustainable way to travel around West Sacramento. By providing additional mobility options, residents and visitors have more choices than ever in how they get around. Plus, choosing an e-bike or e-scooter is fun, affordable, and better for the environment than driving!

Who Owns and Operates the shared scooters and bikes?

The City of West Sacramento does not own or operate shared scooters or bicycle programs. They are owned and operated by private vendors that have obtained a permit from the City to operate. As of January 2024, there are two operators in West Sacramento: Lime and Bird, who are permitted to operate scooters and e-bicycles

What if a shared mobility device is causing an obstruction or is inappropriately parked?

If the device is inappropriately parked or is obstructing a normal path of travel, please take the following steps:

  1. Contact the Operator Directly: To file a complaint, identify the operator and customer support information which is displayed on the device or through the App.
  • If the issue is not resolved in a timely manner after you have already contacted the Operator directly, please Issue a complaint on West Sac Connect and City staff will log your complaint on the Operators record and may be able to assist with device removal/relocation.

What if I do not have a smartphone?

If you do not have a smartphone, all three micromobility operators in the City provide the option of text-to-ride. Please contact the micromobility operator if you need assistance setting up a text-to-unlock account.

What if I do not have a credit card?

Micromobility devices accept payment options beyond credit cards to provide equitable access to all potential riders. Payment options may differ among operators, and is shown in the table below.
